Woman Held and Beaten in Toledo Basement

A Toledo man is facing several felony charges after police say he imprisoned a woman in the basement of his mother’s home and repeatedly assaulted her overnight.

Officers took 29-year-old Deontay Buchanan into custody Sunday afternoon. According to investigators, Buchanan prevented the woman from leaving the basement throughout the night and attacked her multiple times.

Court records state he choked her, struck her in the face several times, and threatened her with a knife during the incident. Police also report he took her phone, preventing her from calling for help.

Buchanan is now facing multiple felony charges as the investigation continues.
